‘ARE YOU OK?’ Emails from Tehran
The day after the U.S. and Israel started bombing Iran, Virginia Defender editor Phil Wilayto wrote to an old friend in Tehran, author and filmmaker Habib Ahmadzadeh, and asked if he and his family were OK. The following are emails we have received from Habib.

Virginia Defenders Endorse the Call for a ‘National Shutdown’ on Jan. 30th!
The Virginia Defenders for Freedom, Justice & Equality have endorsed the call for a “National Shutdown” on Friday, Jan. 30: “No work, no school, no shopping.” The official demand is “Stop funding ICE.” We would say, “Abolish ICE now!”
